Narrowing The Performance Gap
After establishing MusicCord-PRO as the new standard of performance and value, we could have stopped and rested on our laurels. But we were not satisfied. Our own Reference series components are our benchmark for excellence. To achieve "Reference" level of refined performance requires costly and proprietary processes that do not lend themselves to mass production manufacturing. We asked, "How can we improve MusicCord-PRO Professional Series components to narrow the performance gap?" This became our mission.
Incorporate "Reference" Features
We began our quest by looking at the build process for The Essence Reference power cord and asked, "What processes could be performed yet still offer exceptional value to customers?" We decided to implement two key processing steps:
- Deep cryogenic treatment to -300o F.
- Proprietary plug termination processing.
All the Advantages And More Resolution
MusicCord-PRO ES has all the performance attributes, build quality and applications versatility of standard MusicCord-PRO power cords. The additional processing steps we perform on ES series results in more resolution from your connected audio component.
- Resolution that makes vocals and featured instruments sound smoother, "sweeter".
- Resolution that improves imaging focus.
- Resolution to hear low-level spatial cues in recordings and DVD soundtracks.

Deep Cryogenic Treatment To -300o F
Deep cryogenic treatment employed on ES and Reference series components is a process of gradually lowering the temperature over a 48-hour period to below -300o F, and then gradually raising the temperature back to room conditions. It results in permanent irreversible changes to copper conductors' grain structure. Why does deep cryogenic treatment improve the performance of audio cables?
To understand the true effects of cryogenics on copper we turned to automotive engineers who examined the effect upon robot weld tips. What they found was that contrary to what many audiophiles have been told, after cryogenic processing, copper typically has more grain boundaries. The extreme cold temperature causes grain boundaries to more optimally align, maximizing surface contact and minimizing resistance across the boundary to the point where electrically it's almost as if the boundary no longer existed. Cryogenically treated copper weld tips last almost 10-times longer! Cryogenic treatment of audio cables results in reduced resistance, which enhances resolution and overall fidelity.
Quality Terminations
Quality terminations are important for any cable. There are unavoidable resistive losses with any termination. The objective is to minimize these losses. Our 15-years of design and field experience has guided and confirmed what are the best practices in power cord termination. The process we employ on Especial series plug terminations reduces contact resistance between components.
Is MusicCord-PRO ES The Right For You?
What applications benefit most from the improved resolution afforded by MusicCord-PRO ES? If you're a musician playing live performances, you probably will not appreciate the performance difference between the standard MusicCord-PRO and MusicCord-PRO ES. If you are a studio professional, especially a mastering engineer, you should consider MusicCord-PRO ES. Similarly, for home audio and home theater applications, consider MusicCord-PRO ES.
- If you are in a controlled listening environment such as your audiophile hi-fi or home theater system where subtle differences can be readily perceived, consider MusicCord-PRO ES.
